If you’re coming from abroad, you’ll need your passports, birth certificates, and a Certificate of No Impediment (sometimes called a “freedom to marry” document). These need to be officially translated into Portuguese and stamped with an Apostille. The paperwork goes through the local civil registry office. It can sound like a headache, but plenty of couples either handle it with a local planner or choose to do the legal part at home and celebrate the symbolic ceremony in Portugal.

Spring (April\June) and early autumn (September\October) are the best options – warm weather, less rain, and not as crowded as peak summer. July and August can be very hot, especially inland or in the Douro Valley, while November to March is quieter but wetter. If you want outdoor photos with golden light and comfortable temperatures, late spring or early autumn is ideal.

It depends on the style of the wedding. A small, intimate celebration might start around €10 – 15k, while larger events with full venues, catering, and entertainment often reach €20 – 45k or more. Venues and catering usually take the biggest part of the budget, with photography and video being a smaller but essential slice. My couples often say that investing in photography was the one decision they never regretted, since the photos are what’s left after the day. And don’t forget, a good DJ makes a massive difference to end your night on a high!

To secure your date, especially during peak season (May to October), it’s best to book 9 to 12 months in advance. Some couples book even earlier if they’re planning a destination wedding.

That’s precisely why my approach isn’t about posing in the traditional sense. On the wedding day, my role is to blend in, observe, and step in only when it genuinely helps. Most couples tell me the same thing afterwards: “We forgot you were there.” And that’s usually when the best photos happen – when you’re relaxed, present, and just being yourselves.

My approach is documentary and candid. I focus on capturing genuine emotions and real interactions – not stiff poses. I want you to relive your day exactly as it felt when you get your final gallery.

Yes. I always suggest a short video call, but I do prefer a pre-wedding session so we can get to know each other and you feel more comfortable on the big day. This also gives you the opportunity to work with me, and will help us feel more comfortable and relaxed on your wedding day

For weddings within Porto and the surrounding areas, I do not charge any travel fees. For weddings further away (like Lisbon, the Algarve, or the Azores), I’ll give you a simple breakdown of any travel costs upfront.

My editing style is natural and true to the moment – and that’s probably part of why you’re here. I don’t use Photoshop to change body shapes, smooth skin, or apply digital makeup. What I do use it for occasionally is to remove distracting elements like exit signs or fire extinguishers if they’re really taking away from the image. My goal is to deliver a gallery that feels real, honest, and timeless – just like the day itself.

You’ll receive your full gallery within 6 to 10 weeks. I always send a small preview a few days after the wedding so you get a little sneak peek right away.

For weddings up to around 100 guests, one photographer is often more than enough – but you can always add a second photographer if you want broader coverage. If you’re planning a big celebration or getting ready in different locations, a second photographer is mandatory. This is not an upsell – it’s what’s needed to do the job properly.

Of course. Your gallery includes high-resolution files for printing, and a web version for easy sharing with friends and family.

I love a good challenge – and some of my favorite photos have been taken in unexpected weather. I always bring backup gear, and we’ll adapt the timeline if needed. Some rain can actually create magic.

It’s not required, but it can make things a lot smoother if you’re planning from abroad. A planner can handle the paperwork, coordinate suppliers, and make sure everything runs on time. If you’re fluent in Portuguese and happy to organize details yourself, you might not need one. But most of my foreign couples find a planner invaluable – it lets them actually enjoy the day while someone else takes care of the logistics.

Yes. I bring a drone with me to most weddings and often use it for photography when it adds context to the place and your story.
That said, drone use always depends on a few factors – local restrictions, weather conditions, and whether it’s safe to fly. Because of that, it’s not something I can guarantee in every situation, but when it’s possible and makes sense, I’ll absolutely use it.
